Logan Sugarman

Founder and CEO of Refresh

Logan Sugarman is an experienced entrepreneur, investor, and builder best known as the Founder and CEO of Refresh, an HR technology platform that reimagines the employee experience for today’s workforce. With over two decades of experience spanning Wall Street, climate technology, and enterprise software, he has built companies that connect data, logistics, and human behavior to deliver meaningful business outcomes.

Founder & CEO of Refresh: A SuperApp for Frontline and Deskless Workforces

Founded in 2007, Refresh is a customizable, all-in-one SuperApp that consolidates every tool, benefit, and communication channel used by global workforces—especially frontline, deskless, and hybrid teams. Unlike traditional HR platforms, it personalizes each employee’s experience based on role, employment type, and geography, ensuring that every worker has access to relevant and essential resources.

The Problem:

Most corporations offer hundreds of tools and resources to employees, with HR teams adding an average of 4.2 new applications every month. This complexity is costly, resulting in over $100 billion in HR and IT time spent managing, training, and supporting these systems. Employees lose nearly $400 billion in value due to low personalization and underutilization, while vendors miss out on approximately $50 billion in potential revenue resulting from limited access and engagement.

Under his leadership, Refresh has become a trusted partner to Fortune 500 companies, national unions, and major charities. The platform integrates with more than 3,000 HRIS, LMS, payroll, and benefits systems and includes built-in modules for wellness, rewards, onboarding, communications, and feedback. It simplifies the user experience while unifying legacy systems into one cohesive platform.

In 2025, SHRM selected Refresh as one of three companies out of over 500 applicants for its Accelerator Program, acknowledging its innovation in employee engagement and workplace wellness. SHRM also made a significant investment in the company, confirming confidence in its mission and technology.

Accenture has also recognized Refresh through its Global HR Technology Challenge and maintains partnerships with HUB International and UKG.

Co-Founder, Triangle Digital

He is also the co-founder of Triangle Digital, Inc., a company dedicated to advancing a climate-resilient future by linking large-scale data directly to financial assets. The platform aggregates and analyzes data from multiple sources, including billing systems and IoT sensors, to enable sustainability tracking, benchmarking, and analysis.

Triangle was named Innovation of the Year in Carbon Markets for 2025 by Environmental Finance for creating stackable Carbon and Co-Benefit Credits (Water, Biodiversity, PFAs, PM, and UN SDGs) as RWAs that can be sold individually or as bundled assets.

The company issued approximately $265 million in carbon credits for Dynamic Carbon Credits and Water Energy Forward, establishing them as regulated financial instruments that banks can now hold in custody. This innovation transformed the market from a “Buy and Retire” to a “Buy and Bank” model.

Triangle was also recognized as the Winner of the Brazil Central Bank Life Data Program for COP30. Its blended finance structure introduced a “Carbon Warrant,” which combines Carbon and Co-Benefit Credits to reduce risk between lenders and borrowers.

Co-Founder, Balcony Partners, LLC

Logan also serves as Co-Founder and CIO of Balcony Partners, an SEC-registered investment advisory firm managing $100 million in assets. The firm focuses on volatility-based quantitative strategies and private equity-style investments in clean energy, including residential solar and tax credit optimization.

He also sponsors two Nasdaq-listed SPACs—GSR III and GSR IV. GSR III recently completed a major combination in the energy sector with Terra Innovatum, a company developing micro-modular nuclear systems to expand access to clean energy.

Investments & Advisory Roles

He is an active early-stage investor with a portfolio of over 100 angel investments, including high-growth companies such as Scale AI and Liquid Death, as well as venture funds like Scribble and 776. He also advises several startups, including Diameter, supporting early-stage founders and emerging technologies.

Career Foundation: From Technology to Wall Street and Back

Logan began his career at Accenture as a Technology Strategy Consultant, leading teams that built data-driven CRM systems for E-Trade. These solutions managed transactions, tracked account activity, and generated analytics for segmentation and profitability.

He later served in senior roles at Exis Capital, Kinyan Capital, and Swiss Re, where he worked on a small team managing a $1 billion long/short equity portfolio focused on financial and macro strategies. As Co-Portfolio Manager at Midsummer Capital, he co-led a $150 million carve-out fund.

Board Memberships, Philanthropy, and Media

Logan is a longtime supporter of Minnesota Public Radio and Johns Hopkins University, his alma mater, where he endowed a scholarship, chaired the Junior Board (Second Decade Society), and serves on the Krieger School Advisory Board. He also supports the JCCA and has chaired the Religious School at his local synagogue, contributing regularly to initiatives centered on education and entrepreneurship.

Beyond his business pursuits, he has managed art galleries in Minneapolis (Gallery 13) and New York (Lital Mehr Gallery), promoting emerging artists. He also executive-produced several Lifetime-distributed films, including The Secret Life of a Celebrity, The Au Pair Nightmare, A Deadly Price for Her Pretty Face, and Escaping Dad.

Education

Logan attended Johns Hopkins University, where he earned dual bachelor’s degrees in Economics and Psychology, with minors in Computer Science. His education began at St. Paul Academy and Summit School, a private, college-preparatory day school in Saint Paul, Minnesota.

He has been a CFA Charter Holder since 2004 and established a scholarship to promote entrepreneurship and innovation.

On the Personal Side

Originally from Minnesota, he now lives in New York with his wife and daughter. Whether advancing HR technology or shaping the future of climate finance, Logan Sugarman remains dedicated to building scalable solutions that empower people, drive progress, and create lasting impact.
